Company Overview

Zero-D Products, Inc. was established by Bill Mull in 1984 for the purpose of brokering, as well as manufacturing, machined plastics and molded rubber parts for industry. During the early years, exposure to, and contacts within the precious metal jewelry industry identified a need for higher quality mold rubber products used in the casting process. This new focus lead us to develop our first natural rubber product--Akron Jewelry Rubber--which was introduced in 1991.

Heartened by the excellent reception Akron Jewelry Rubber received from the industry, we began development of a series of silicone mold rubbers, led by our 4X Gold, which had far higher tear resistance than any other product on the market at that time. Several other attributes, such as extreme high wax finish and easy release properties, made 4X Gold a popular alternative to the less sophisticated silicone formulas available at the time.

In the first few years of mold rubber production, the milling and calendering of our rubber products were subcontracted to some of the fine rubber manufacturing houses that populate the greater Akron area.  As order volumes expanded, we purchased the necessary rubber manufacturing equipment to allow us to handle all aspects of production in-house.  This provided us with the ability to monitor the quality of our products even more closely, and to respond to customer requests in a much more timely manner.

The next logical product line extension came in the development of a clear liquid silicone RTV.  Our objective again was to provide a product that offered the highest tear strength available in order to better serve the needs of the manufacturing jeweler. After nearly a year of rigorous developmental lab work, Akron RTV Silicone was ready for the market.  Today, it is recognized around the world as the most dependable cold-cure system for a variety of applications.  Unlike the less costly urethane mold rubbers, Akron RTV-RP Silicone molds are permanent. They do not degrade over time due to contact with moist conditions and are not subject to polyurethane's natural tendency to revert to a sticky state.

Due to the great popularity of our liquid silicone, we have recently developed a silicone with the same great properties of the RTV-RP Clear Silicone, except that it is low in viscosity for ease of de-air. Known as LOVIS RTV-RP Silicone, we suspect that this silicone will become the new standard in mold making.

Heightened awareness of our "Zero Defects" philosophy led to more and more requests for new products from Zero-D. With the same careful consideration to quality, we added silicone casting gaskets and Slick Silicone Mold Release Spray.

As we move forward, our pledge of Zero-D, that is zero defects, is foremost in our thinking, planning, research and development. Over the last 14 years, as several million pounds of rubber have been manufactured, Akron Jewelry Rubber has maintained a flawless record of quality and consistency.  We are very proud that our products have been accepted as the quality benchmark against which others are judged.

Today, Zero-D Products, Inc. markets its mold rubbers, and casting waxes throughout the United States and in more than 50 countries around the world.
